Death and the Woman (Death and the Maiden/Death and Love):

Description: A young, naked woman, with a well-rounded, gently curved body, seen from the back, is kissing a bony skeleton. The woman has her arms around the neck of the skeleton, whose bony arms are around the woman’s waist. Both have their heads tilted. The profile of the woman’s head can be seen looking towards the right, and slightly upwards to the skeleton’s neck. The full, long hair nestles silkily against her back. The skull of the skeleton is turned so that only the skullcap can be seen. The skeleton’s bony left leg is straight, and is between the soft, fleshy legs of the woman; the right leg is bent. This posture of the legs and the slightly raised right foot of the woman give the impression that the two of them are dancing.
The fair body of the woman and her bony companion, who is sketched with many dark strokes, are shown on a neutral background. They are surrounded by a frame on which there are sperm and, at the bottom of the painting, three foetus-like creatures floating.
